AIESEC Lithuania

AIESEC Lithuania was established in 1991 and is waiting for 20th anniversary - the age of mature organization. It was like this...

1991 – When everything started
In 1991 Kaunas and Vilnius have been established as local branches independent from each other and united later the same year. The first project was called “Folsa” and its main goal was to unite members of AIESEC and transmit knowledge for them from AIESEC conferences abroad. It’s the first seminar ever organized from AIESEC Lithuania.

1992 – We implement Career Days
In 1992 AIESEC organizes it‘s career days and set the first step for an ongoing success in this area during the whole 90‘ies.

1993 – We join the Global network
In August AIESEC Lithuania joined the global AIESEC network with the strong support of AIESEC in Demark. But still much needed to be done until...

1995 – We become a full member country
In February in Sri Lanka, Lithuania was approved as a Full member country of the global organization, fulfilling all criteria. After these years we are now able to contribute towards the global network.

1996 – We organize the first international seminar
AIESEC Lithuania kept on successfully organizing career days and national seminars and in 1996 we took the next step: we organized the first international Seminar, called “Norbe 96”. Its slogan “Key to a shared future” was not only relevant for the event as such, but also for us and our development.

1998 – We expand to the whole country
In 1998 AIESEC Lithuania did not only count Kaunas and Vilnius as it’s local branches, but we also opened branches in Klaipeda and Siauliai. Being now present in 4 cities and their universities, allowed more and more students to join and to benefit from the offered activities.

1999 – The year(s) of Change
Beginning with 1999 and ongoing until 2000 AIESEC Lithuania went through a major change. Due to the new global direction, AIESEC Lithuania ended its activities in career days. This caused major changes in our external activities and also in our internal processes. In addition AIESEC Lithuania created and established together with AIESEC Latvia and AIESEC Estonia a cooperation that soon became very successful and is growing in it’s relevance until today: We united the recruitment and induction cycle and since these days we are organizing ENERGY and SYNERGY – conferences for more than 200 people, at it’s peak having represented AIESECers from more than 20 nationalities.

2002 – The AIESEC Experience
AIESEC Lithuania stopped to separate exchange and leadership as separate activities and united all of them - being (again) a pioneering country. The AIESEC Experience became soon the global direction for the whole network. 2004 – Topics relevant for the society tomorrow, raised and addressed today In order to support Lithuania and its youth much better in their development, AIESEC Lithuania started its activities in the CSR field. A conference on CSR has been organized and this topic stays relevant for the organization until today. This year marked the start of a continues (re-)search of the needs within the Lithuanian society until today

We have successfully hosted the so far biggest international conference with 180 delegates from all around the world, called “EuroCO” in Vilnius – uniting the leaders of the local branches from more than 30 AIESEC countries in Lithuania, to educate and develop them for their future role in society.
